How to paint exterior wood

When it comes to painting exterior wood, preparation is key for smooth and long-lasting results.

  1. To get started, sand your wooden surfaces with a fine-grit sandpaper to ensure a smooth surface prior to painting.
  2. Next, clean your wood, ensuring that any dirt or grime is removed.
  3. Once this has fully dried, fill any holes, cracks, or uneven surfaces with an appropriate wood filler.
  4. If your paint is already self-priming, you can move straight onto painting; if not, then we recommend using a primer to ensure professional and quality results.
  5. Apply two even coats of paint (more can be applied if you think this is needed).
