18 inch paint rollers are particularly popular with professional decorators when covering large areas. They allow you to get the job done quicker with less time coating the roller and more time painting the surface.

18" paint rollers come in various pile sizes meaning we supply large rollers than can be used for smooth walls & ceilings as well as rougher surfaces like exterior walls and masonry.

Large paint rollers require special roller frames in order to use them effectively. We stock these adjustable roller frames which are compatible with extension poles.

How to use an 18 inch paint roller

You will need a paint tray or bucket, large enough to work with an 18" roller. We would recommend the Wooster 5 Gallon Wide Boy Bucket or the Purdy Dual Roll Off 18" Tray. You will also need a bigger roller frame which we also sell. You could use the Axus 18" Adjustable Frame or the Purdy Premium Adjustable Roller Frame, both of which are compatible with extension poles.

Don't overfill your roller. To get an even coverage with a smooth finish use the same amount of paint you would with a standard smaller roller. Overfilling can also lead to paint spatter and drips onto floors, furniture and trim.

We'd recommend cutting in first with a high quality cutting in brush like the ProDec In Cutting Brush, and cover large unobstructed areas with the 18 inch paint roller. If your project involves a lot of corners with many obstructions such as windows, plug sockets or doors then a smaller roller may be more beneficial and effective.
