Wallpaper is and continues to be a key trend in 2022. Whatever your taste and interior style is from traditional textured and floral wallpaper designs to contemporary panelled and geometric wallpaper, there is something to suit every individual's taste. The progress in new printing techniques and finishes is constantly pushing the boundaries, and the availability of new wallpaper designs and patterns makes it even more exciting. Whether you’re wallpapering an entire room or adding a feature wall, wallpaper is still one of the best ways to spruce up your home .
Eye catching Floral Wallpapers - Whether your interior style is traditional, retro or contemporary, floral printed wallpapers are here to stay and the good news is we have a large selection for you to choose your favourites from. When choosing the perfect floral print for your home, its super important to think about the scale of the flowers that appear in the patterns. Large prints can make small rooms appear even smaller so stick to smaller and more neutral designs to create an illusion of more space in your room.
Exploring textures - Textured wallpapers are ideal for creating a three dimensional feel to your room, without the design being overly bold or dramatic. Not only are textured wallpapers becoming a more popular choice is our homes, they are perfect for creating a cosy and relaxing feel to your bedroom, living room and hallway. Some of our most popular textured wallpapers include Grasscloth, sequin effect and hessian wallpaper.
Adding drama with dark wallpaper colours - Dark coloured wallpapers are becoming more and more increasingly popular in our homes. Once associated with making a room feel dark and dingy, darker coloured wallpapers are perfect for creating a relaxing and luxurious feel in your home.
At Decorating Centre Online, our wallpaper collection mainly consists of two different types, paste the wall wallpaper and paste the paper wallpaper and we often get asked what the difference between these two types are and which is the better one to go for. The obvious main difference between these two is the wallpaper hanging method or the way of applying the paste before you hang the paper.
Paste the Wall Wallpaper - As stated in the title, the paste is directly applied to the wall before hanging each individual strip. Known as the easier to work with out of the two, this wallpaper type avoids the stress that using a paste table may cause, whilst also applying wallpaper paste directly to the wall also means that you can ensure the consistency of the paste, ensuring that you are left with a smooth and even finish.
Paste the Paper Wallpaper - Paste-the-Paper is when the paste is applied directly to the back of the wallpaper strip before hanging. This type of hanging method requires a drying time, which is a way in which the paste becomes activated allowing the paper to rest before hanging the strip.
Absolutely! Wallpaper sometimes gets the "preconception" that it can only be used in rooms such as living rooms, hallways or bedrooms, so we are here to tell you that this is strictly not the case. The beauty of wallpaper is that it can be hung in pretty much every room in your home, whilst also being totally transformative in any space. Wallpaper has the power to change the look and feel of a room by adding a splash or colour, a bold print or a touch of texture.
Wallpapers are perfect for using in kitchens and bathrooms, although sometimes not associated with using in these rooms due to the high levels of humidity, wallpapers can add an instant stylish impact. In these particular rooms, it's all about choosing a wallpaper that has been especially designed to use in damp and steamy conditions. For these rooms we would recommend using vinyl wallpapers finishes that can be easily wiped clean and have a scrubbable nature. If you need some extra help or more information feel free to contact us here. You can also search our selection of kitchen and bathroom wallpapers here. (We've even wrote a super helpful blog on what our favourite bathroom and kitchen wallpapers are here)
When picking a wallpaper for a room in your home, look at the colours and tones of the furniture, furnishing and light fixtures that already exist in that space. Think about what the function of that particular room is and how you want you and your guests to feel when you spend time there. If you’re still struggling to decide, then use our Wallpaper Picker Tool.
To decide how much wallpaper you’ll need, first you need to measure the width of the area you’ll be wallpapering in metres, including windows and doors. Divide the width of the room by the width of the wallpaper you are buying, which will tell you how many widths of wallpaper you’ll need. Next, measure the height of the room and multiply it by the number of widths needed and divide that number by the length of the wallpaper roll. What you're left with is the number of wallpaper rolls you’ll need. Here’s an example:
Width of room (30 metres) ÷ Width of wallpaper: (0.5 metres) = number of wallpaper widths needed (60)
Height of room (2.5 metres) x number of wallpaper widths needed (60) = 150
150 ÷ length of wallpaper roll (10 metres) = 15 rolls of wallpaper needed.
We’ve actually made this process much easier for you, so when buying your wallpaper you simply input the measurements of your room and we work out how many rolls you’ll need!
